Find People Through Camarillo Records
Start with the strongest fact already in hand. A current street address belongs first in County View, where the Ventura County GIS viewer can connect a situs address to an APN and parcel map. A known owner can then be checked against the Assessor roll and a deed index. A name without an address is better tested through Ventura Superior Court Case Inquiry, California license or business searches, and the State Controller’s unclaimed-property search. Each result is a clue with a custodian, date, and role. None is a complete Camarillo residents directory.
The path also changes with time. The library’s local-history and genealogy shelves help with past households, while city permits date work at a property. The voter portal is a self-check for the person who is registered, not a reverse directory. When an online screen stops short, a counter visit, mail form, library shelf search, or narrowly framed California Public Records Act request may be the right next step.
- Write down the name or address exactly, then add a time range and one known place or affiliation.
- Use Ventura County GIS to test the situs, APN, parcel shape, and city layer.
- Compare the parcel with the Ventura County Assessor roll, keeping owner, mailing address, and occupant questions distinct.
- Search the Ventura Case Inquiry or a California agency index when the question is about one person.
- Use a library, archive, recorder counter, court record request, or CPRA request for the missing historical or underlying record.
Note: A record trail is strongest when two independent custodians agree on a name, date, place, and record number.
Where Camarillo Resident Records Live
Camarillo is an incorporated city in Ventura County, but it is not a separate recording or trial-court jurisdiction. City Hall keeps municipal records and permits. Ventura County keeps the Assessor roll, recorded instruments, county vital records, elections administration, and sheriff information. California agencies control statewide vital records, professional licenses, privacy programs, prisons, and business entities. The county seat and main records counters are in Ventura, so an address search often crosses the city line without leaving the county.

Camarillo City Clerk contact is different from the county counters: City Hall is at 601 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, and the Clerk’s public contact is (805) 388-5353. City records include agreements, resolutions, ordinances, recorded city documents, elections material, and Political Reform Act filings. A request should name the department, subject, address or APN, date span, and preferred format. The CPRA gives access to existing nonexempt records, not a custom list made from scratch.
Camarillo Parcel Records by Address
The cleanest address path is situs address to APN to roll to recorded document. In County View, Address Search uses Assessor situs autocomplete. Find Parcel by APN accepts a parcel number, and Street Search uses the centerline street name. The selected parcel can show attributes, open additional Assessor detail, and be compared with surrounding geometry. Turn on the Cities layer before assuming that a postal Camarillo address lies inside the incorporated city.
Keep three address ideas apart. The situs is the land or building. The mailing address receives assessment correspondence and may belong to an owner, trust, business, manager, or post office box. The legal description uses tract, lot, block, map, or metes-and-bounds language. The mailing address can be a useful owner-location clue, but it does not prove who lives at the situs. A Homeowners’ Exemption can suggest principal-residence treatment for a roll year, yet it still does not list household members.
| Situs address | The physical location used to find a parcel in County View. |
|---|---|
| APN | The Assessor parcel identifier used to join map, roll, permit, and deed research. |
| Mailing address | The destination for assessment notices, not an occupancy field. |
| Legal description | The recorded tract, lot, block, map, or boundary description that carries title history. |
Note: Ventura APNs appear in an XXX-X-XXX-XXX pattern, but a split or combination can create a new identifier.
Camarillo Voter Status Boundaries
California My Voter Status authenticates the voter who is checking their own record. It asks for identity details rather than offering a public Camarillo residents directory. A successful check can return registration status, party preference, polling place, vote-by-mail or ballot status, and election-material preferences. It is useful for personal verification and civic planning, not for browsing a street or a household.
The state voter file is a separate, restricted channel. Elections Code section 2194 and 2 CCR sections 19001-19013 limit approved purposes. The request form asks for applicant identity, purpose, geography, requested fields, security certification, signature, and payment. The state reports a 7-14 business-day processing window, a $15 per 1,000 bulk-record fee with a $15 minimum and $100 maximum, and separate pricing for specifically identified records. Government Code section 7924.000 protects street addresses, phone and email fields, precinct identifiers, prior registration, identification numbers, signatures, and related sensitive fields except where the statute permits access.
| My Voter Status field | Why it appears | What the result can do |
|---|---|---|
| First and last name | Identity match | Starts the voter’s own record check |
| California driver license or ID | Authentication | Confirms the person, not another household |
| Last four SSN digits | Authentication | Protects the self-service request |
| Date of birth and CAPTCHA | Identity and abuse control | Completes the personal lookup |
Historical research has a different lead. The Museum of Ventura County journal index includes an article on the Great Register of Ventura County, 1873. That surviving reference can guide a history search, but it should not be treated as a modern voter list.
The California voter-status form shows the boundary clearly: it verifies the person using it, while an approved state request follows a separate statutory process.
The California My Voter Status form is the source for this personal verification route.
The voter-status screen is a reminder that a public record can have a narrow, lawful purpose even when the record system is official.
Camarillo Deed Index Clues
The Ventura Recorder index is a catalog, not the deed itself. Search a person as both grantor and grantee, try spelling variants, and capture the recording number, recording date, and document category. The underlying instrument is where the legal description, signatures, consideration or tax statements, and return information can be checked. The official sources did not establish a reliable online starting year, so older or image-restricted work belongs at the Recorder counter or through the copy process.
| Index field | Use in a Camarillo search |
|---|---|
| Indexed party and role | Follow both sides of a transfer and test name variants. |
| Recording number and date | Identify the instrument to inspect or order. |
| Document category | Separate deeds, deeds of trust, reconveyances, liens, maps, and other instruments. |
| Legal description | Confirm continuity when a street name, APN, or subdivision changes. |
The County Clerk-Recorder’s main office in Ventura publishes Monday-Friday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with appointments required for specified services. The self-service disclaimer says the index may change and recommends other criteria when a name search fails. Do not follow a surname alone. A seller can own several parcels, a trust can interrupt a personal-name chain, and a business address can be a filing contact rather than a residence.
Current Camarillo Name and Address Sources
A current Camarillo residents directory is assembled from sources that answer different questions. Property information is about assessed ownership. Permit summaries are about a project and its participants. A court index is about a case. A business or license result is about an affiliation. The city’s public records are about municipal action. The table keeps those categories from being mistaken for a complete household list.
| Source | What it can show | Keeper | Access path |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assessor and GIS | APN, situs, assessed owner clue, mailing clue, parcel context | Ventura County | Property gateway and County View |
| Recorder index | Parties, instrument type, date, legal description | Ventura County Clerk-Recorder | Index, counter, copy request |
| City permits | Applicant, contractor, address, status, project dates | Camarillo Building and Safety | Click2Gov or OpenGov; request file |
| Court Case Inquiry | Case number, parties, category, filing date, register events | Ventura Superior Court | Online index, courthouse, mail |
| Library and local history | Historical names, addresses, family and civic context | Camarillo Library and county collections | Browse, volunteer, appointment |
Use the source closest to the fact. The assessor is not a household roll, the court index is not a biography, and a directory entry is not proof of present location. The Camarillo street directory page follows the address chain in more depth, while the most useful historical volumes are discussed in the Camarillo city directory collections.
Camarillo Permit Records and Dates
Camarillo’s permit system changed on July 1, 2025. New applications moved to OpenGov, which the city says supports online applications and payments, status tracking, inspection scheduling, and centralized review. The older Click2Gov system remains relevant to older active permits and inspections. That split matters when a property history appears to stop: a searcher may be using the wrong generation of the city’s portal.
The legacy form accepts a method based on application number, street address, parcel components, or name. Its address path separates street number, direction, street name, search type, and suffix. Its parcel path exposes book, hold, page-block, lot, tract-phase, map, and related components. Its name path uses match rules and segmented name fields. The official inspection did not expose option values or the first legacy year, so complete historical coverage should not be claimed.
| Address result | Permit number, address or APN, work description, status, dates, and inspection events may appear. |
|---|---|
| People fields | Applicant, contractor, or owner names may connect a project to a property at a time. |
| Missing detail | Underlying permit cards or plans may require Building and Safety or City Clerk contact. |
A permit dates physical work. It does not prove that the named applicant lived at the address. For code cases, no official public address-keyed portal was located. A CPRA request can identify a property and date range, though complainant, contact, and active-investigation material may be withheld.
Camarillo’s current permitting gateway explains the newer route, while the legacy Click2Gov search remains a useful historical doorway. The city gateway shows how a local administrative record can add dates and names without becoming a list of residents.
Camarillo Court Record Checks
Ventura Superior Court handles trial-level cases arising in Camarillo because the city has no separate municipal court. Case Inquiry can search supported divisions by case number or party name, with date controls where exposed. The indexed result may show case number, caption, case category, filing date, assigned department or judicial officer, and register-of-actions events. It is an identity lead, not a complete file.
Coverage has known boundaries. Family Law begins September 1, 1991, with some older active matters added. Former Municipal Court criminal and traffic entries begin January 1, 1989. Superior Court felony entry expanded after court combination in 1995, so earlier coverage may be partial. Since June 21, 2021, criminal name searches cannot use date of birth or driver-license number. Files, images, and protected material may require the courthouse or a mail request.
The Ventura court’s current copy schedule lists $0.50 per page, $40 for certification, $1 per page to compare a copy, $15 for a search longer than ten minutes, and $50 for exemplification. Mail requests use the Record Request Form, case number when known, request detail, payment, and a stamped envelope. Juvenile, adoption, sealed, confidential family, victim, and protected-person material follows separate limits.
Ventura Case Inquiry is the proper first index for a county case. If a file is needed, use the Ventura Superior Court records instructions rather than treating a search result as the record.
The court search view illustrates why a case number and filing date are better anchors than a similar name alone.
Camarillo Vital Record Copies
Vital records use an access model that is more precise than an open name list. Ventura County Clerk-Recorder is the local copy channel for county birth, death, and marriage records, while the California Department of Public Health maintains statewide birth, death, fetal-death or stillbirth, marriage, and divorce records. California distinguishes authorized certified copies from informational certified copies under Health and Safety Code sections 103525-103526. Confidential marriage records are restricted under Family Code section 511, and adoption records follow separate rules.
| Record | Custodian | Access point | 2026 CDPH fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birth | Ventura Recorder or CDPH | Authorized or informational copy as allowed | $31 |
| Death | Ventura Recorder or CDPH | Authorized or informational copy; historical indexes may guide | $26 |
| Public marriage | Ventura Recorder or CDPH | Appropriate certified-copy product | $19 |
| Divorce certificate | CDPH | Certificate of record; court file is separate | $18 |
CDPH’s form asks for the record type, number of copies, names, event date and place, requester relationship, entitlement category, signature, and payment. Mailed authorized copies generally require notarization as the current application directs. A fee is retained as a search fee if no record is found, and the state may issue a Certificate of No Public Record. Read the current revision because AB 64 changed fees on January 1, 2026 and allows diacritical marks on covered certificates.
California Vital Records guidance and the controlled forms gateway explain which product fits the event. A divorce certificate is not the same as the Ventura court judgment.
Camarillo's Historical Directory Shelf
The Camarillo Public Library’s Ventura County Genealogical Society collection began in 1976 and includes journals, family histories, and Camarillo and California books. The library’s licensed digital shelf lists Ancestry Library, FamilySearch, and HeritageQuest as in-library resources. The California State Library’s Ventura County guide points researchers to City Directory and Telephone Book databases and advises searching “Ventura” together with an individual county city.
Verified local citations include the Ventura County California Directory for 1959 and 1960, with additional city-directory evidence for 1964/65 and 1970. Accessible research did not establish an exhaustive publisher run, a complete household entry, or a local abbreviation key. A directory can connect a name or business to an address in its edition, but a gap is not proof that a person was absent.
The historical shelf is covered in full on the city-directory route. For a current parcel-to-deed chain, use the street and address method instead.
Camarillo ZIP Code Boundaries
Postal geography can mislead a Camarillo residents directory search. ZIP 93010 serves central, west, and north Camarillo, including City Hall, the library, Old Town, Las Posas, and Pickwick areas. ZIP 93011 is a Camarillo post-office-box mailing ZIP, not a residential neighborhood. ZIP 93012 covers east and southeast areas such as Mission Oaks, Village at the Park, and the eastern industrial area, and its postal city reaches CSUCI.
ZIP 93012 was established in 1990. That date matters when tracing a past address: earlier deeds, permits, or directories cannot contain the later ZIP label. ZIPs organize delivery, not city government. Use USPS to standardize an individual address, then County View’s Cities layer and parcel geometry to test incorporated jurisdiction. Census ZCTAs are generalized statistical shapes and should not be treated as exact postal or city boundaries.
| ZIP | Local role | Research caution |
|---|---|---|
| 93010 | Street delivery across central, west, and north Camarillo | Use the exact situs and city layer |
| 93011 | Camarillo P.O. Box mailing function | A box cannot anchor a parcel search |
| 93012 | East and southeast postal areas, including CSUCI | Postal Camarillo does not prove city jurisdiction |
Note: The verified Camarillo Post Office is at 2150 Pickwick Drive, but individual addresses should still be checked through USPS.
Camarillo Records Before 1873
Ventura County was authorized on March 22, 1872 and became effective January 1, 1873 after being carved from southeastern Santa Barbara County. A pre-1873 Camarillo or Pleasant Valley property, court, or civic clue therefore belongs in Santa Barbara County books and older community records. Searching only modern Ventura County indexes can create a false dead end.
Camarillo incorporated on October 22, 1964. Before that date, a City of Camarillo Clerk file did not exist. Older evidence may sit with Ventura County, Pleasant Valley special districts, schools, the post office, or private collections. The timing of later planned areas also matters: Rancho Calleguas dates to 1988, Pitts Ranch to 1989, Prado de Las Posas to 1995, Village at the Park to 2001, Camarillo Commons to 2007, and Springville to 2008. A modern street name may not belong in a mid-century search.
For local context, the Museum of Ventura County preserves county photographs, manuscripts, maps, newspapers, oral histories, and incorporation records. A countywide index is a lead, not a promise that every Camarillo person appears there.
Camarillo Privacy and Protected Addresses
Some absences are deliberate. Safe at Home gives eligible survivors and specified public-facing workers a substitute address for participating government records. California voter rules protect street addresses, contact fields, identifiers, and signatures except for approved statutory purposes. DMV residence data is controlled by the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act. Utility accounts, delivery records, and many complaint or witness details are not open household lists.
California’s Delete Request and Opt-out Platform, known as DROP, routes one consumer request to more than 500 registered data brokers. It can address commercial compilations, but it does not erase a deed, court file, license, or other record held by its lawful custodian. If a government result is wrong, keep the record number and date, then use the agency’s correction route.
Lawful personal use. Camarillo records are useful for family history, property research, civic work, and respectful reconnection. Do not use a name or address trail to stalk, harass, threaten, or expose a protected person.
Safe at Home explains the state confidentiality program, while California DROP handles a different, commercial-data request path.
The Safe at Home resource shows why a missing address is not evidence that a person has left Camarillo.
Camarillo Record Scam Checks
Public-record research can also prevent fraud. California officials have warned about obituary and grandparent scams, fake court or toll notices, and urgent payment demands. Ventura Sheriff issued a courier-scam alert on March 19, 2025. A deed-copy letter may offer an expensive “official” copy even though the Recorder supplies a direct copy channel. Unclaimed-money pitches should be tested through the State Controller’s free official search.
Pause before responding. Do not click the message’s link or call its number. Find the court, county office, sheriff, or family contact independently. Ask for a case, document, or parcel number, compare it with the official portal, and reject gift-card, crypto, cash-courier, or wire-only demands. Report local threats or fraud to Ventura Sheriff or Camarillo Police at (805) 654-9511; internet fraud can also go to the FTC or FBI IC3.
The California Attorney General’s DROP launch and the city’s 2025 permit migration are both timely examples of records systems changing. A good Camarillo residents directory search records the source date, distinguishes a portal summary from an official copy, and checks the custodian before relying on a result.
The California DROP portal is the official privacy route for broker requests, not a replacement for the Ventura Recorder or court clerk. That distinction closes the search trail with the same care used at the start.
The deletion portal is a current privacy resource, while the underlying public record remains with its custodian.
